Jeremiah said some motivational things, but most of his book is about the foreboding things that would happen to God's people. Just because we are a part of God's family doesn't mean that we don't have to live up to His expectation. It is time for all of us to wake up and feel the urgency of following God. The world around us is not sleeping, so why are we?
God gave Jeremiah a message in the parable of the potter to try to reveal Himself to the prophet. We need to be open and flexible enough for God to be able to mold and form, like a potter with clay. If we are stubborn and rigid, then we will never take form and will break more easily. Don't let your heart to get stubborn.
God had no desire to uproot His people in Jeremiah's day, but it had to be done. He has no desire to uproot us today, but if His people do not turn from evil it has to happen. We know the promises that He has made and He has too keep His Word. God will uproot, tear down, and destroy to keep His word. If we stagnant and hopeless, then God will have to take away all that He has given.
Some things to look out for are the idols in our lives: figurative and manifested. They have to get out of the way to follow and obey God. Obedience may cost you friends and family, but you will have steadfast friends and God will provide you your family. If people plan to harm you, then God will take care of them. All you have to do is stay faithful.
God listens to what your heart needs. He knows your plans. He feels your hurts. He wants to take care of all of it, but the prideful will not let Him. If people are unwilling to repent for their sins, then the sins will not be forgiven. They will pill up and one day the people will be held accountable.
