God has a personalized message for everyone. Sometimes it is a reminder that they are loved. Sometimes it to give them purpose. Other times it could be judgment. When God speaks to you, there is a reason. Take it to heart.
God spoke to Jeremiah about Baruch. He had been captured and taken to Egypt along with Jeremiah. It was a private message of warning. He told Baruch not to seek great things for himself or it will bring disaster. God sent the message to him because Baruch would listen and because God loved him. He allowed Baruch to escape with Jeremiah to give him the opportunity to take His words to heart.
Baruch came from a noble family. He grew up expecting certain things in life. When they did not happen or at least the way he wanted he grumbled to God. He was depressed. Entitlement normally will lead you to being depressed. You lose focus and make everything about yourself. Self serving ambition will leave you feeling empty.
Before you go grumble about your life to God, take inventory of all He has done for you. Look at the sin in your life. Observe what you cling to and refuse to let go. Then talk to God about it, but be prepared to listen to His response. It probably won't be what you are expecting.
