God had Ezekiel write a lament for the Pharaoh, leader of Egypt. It was very direct in how the leaders of the nation had failed. It is indirectly written for all the leaders that chose their own way instead of following God's directions on how to lead people. If you think you are strong without God, then He will show you a different reality.
The Pharaoh was powerful, but he was not more powerful than God. God used the Babylonians to display His power. The Babylonians were ruthless when they ravaged Egypt's pride. God destroyed the nation and it's people. Elam was slain among others. The Sidonians were disgraced. The nations that had spread terror received terror and death. Other nations that fell are listed also to represent the death of an ungodly leader being a disgrace.
This was the sixth and seventh oracles that was written by Ezekiel about Egypt. It was written between 585 & 586 BC. The whole point is the predator becomes the prey. It was a reminder of how they got where they were and that none of us are smarter, stronger, or wiser than God.
