God had Ezekiel set his face against the Pharaoh and all of Egypt. This was the first of seven oracles against Egypt. At this point in time, Egypt has never had the interest of God's people since the days of Joseph. God has reeked havoc on them over their lives over and over, but now that He was passing judgment on all the nations, they had to be included too. They were next after Tyre.
God judged Egypt by ruining them. The Pharaoh was Hophra. It was 587 BC. For forty years no once would walk there, not even the animals. He left nothing that made it where anyone could survive. God owns the Nile. It will do as God commands. After the forty years, God restored the nation's fortune, but they became a lowly kingdom that would never exalt themselves over other nations again.
When Babylon did attack, King Nebuchadnezzar plundered the land and turned the people into slaves. Egypt fell in 568 BC. It never became a formidable nation again.
