Rebelled Then Restored

The elders went to Ezekiel to inquire about God since it had been 11 months since his last vision.  They wanted to hear something encouraging.  Instead he confronted them on their detestable ways and leading others away from God.  It was not a one time thing, but generational.  It had to stop.
It comes down to the fact that when we follow people we will wonder into darkness and death.  If you follow God, then you to toward the light, but it is not the easiest path.  Following God is acting carefully.  God is watching and knows everything you think, consider, dwell on, and action.  Be careful where you allow your mind to dwell because it will lead to action.
The elders had used their God given gifts and defiled them turning it into a horror of rebellion.  You defile yourself when you give into lust.  That is not just lust of the flesh, but the mind.  It is also coveting and breaking the other commandments.  It is rebellion to break an oath and they had broken all of them.
God will confront evil ways and corrupt practices.  Ezekiel chose to follow God and that meant he had to speak some hard truths to hear or he too would have been guilty of their evil.  Don't defile the gifts that God provides or He will not let you inquire of Him.
God will actually lead you astray for your rebellion until you turn back to Him.  This is how He will purge rebellion.  This means God will abandon us to our sins.  He will let us face our consequences without interference as we purge ourselves.  Only then will some remember who God is and turn back to Him to be saved.  Everyone else will just go to the fire to deal with their evil ways for eternity.  Fire of consquences while alive is better than the eternal fire.
