Tyre was a beautiful city with lots of craftsmen. They made the city's beauty pristine. It was perfection among men. Plus it was on the ocean and had some islands too. It was the picture of perfection.
The city was the idea money and wealth. It was were people went to be profitable. There was all sorts of trade and business. It is where a person went to get the latest thing. It was where you find the latest fashion. It was considered the most advanced place in the Phoenician world. They traded with so many different countries.
When the city was lost it was lamented because it was like a tragic shipwreck. It was losing a culture, historic beauty, wealth, and a central trading location. It was losing hope of a sound future. The people who learned that the city had fallen into the sea they bitterly mourned their security in the world. What Tyre was would never exist again. That is how they may have learned who God is. God is the only true secure and stable thing in people's lives.
