Amos's last vision was of God standing beside the altar. God told him that even though the people try to flee that they would not get away from the slaughter. Some would try to escape, some would hide, and some driven to run. The method does not matter. The ending will vary, but ultimately is the same. We all die and we all face judgment.
The leaders will face judgment, then the people. Status does not matter. We all have to face how we choose to live our lives. God sees sin as sin. It is black and white to Him. You won't be able to talk or argue your way out of facing it. Sin will be obliterated. It will not last in the world forever.
Once judgment is complete, it is time for restoration for God's people. He promised to repair the gap and He did when He send Jesus. Jesus rebuilt all that was destroyed, so that everyone has the opportunity to bear God's name as their family. True fortune of life is brought forth. God's family will never be uprooted again. James confirms this in Acts 15.
