Atonement

Atonement is reparation for a wrong or injury.  When it pertains to the Bible it is applied to sin.  It is not something that comes easily.  From the beginning, atonement has required blood.  When Adam and Eve sinned, God slayed an animal to give them clothing.  After that people had to make sacrifices to God to atone for their sin.
When God tried to have a personal relationship with His chosen people He ordered circumcision to represent the heart belonging to Him.  However, that does not atone for sin.  It is a covenant to be His until Jesus came.  The spilled blood of sacrificed animals that burned in the fires purified the people from their sins.  Atonement is a demonstration of God's justice through faith and blood.
Circumcision represented the faith and trustworthiness of God's people.  It was how they became righteous.  Righteousness is through obedience to God's laws.  Righteousness covers sin after we become conscience of our sin.  It was part of celebrating atonement.
Jesus changed everything.  He sacrificed His blood to the point of death.  The good news is that he is more powerful than death.  He arose again which led the way to a new way of salvation.  He became the last blood sacrifice.  His sacrifice atoned all sin for anyone who ask for salvation for the rest of time.
Pay close attention to your salvation because it came at a high price.  It is through the suffering of Jesus that we became righteous.  He shared in our humanity and he showed us a better way.  His way sets us free from fear of death.  It set us free from being slaves to sin.  His mercy atoned all our sins if we acknowledge the truth: Jesus is God, He died, He resurrected, He ascended to never die again.
We can live a life of freedom due to atonement of Jesus.  That means we have the opportunity to live a full life in obedience to God's Word.  It is all available due to the fact that God loves us personally.  His love covers all sin.  It anoints us sacred and Holy.
