Just allowed the soldiers to put a crown of thorns on his head. He allowed them to push it into his flesh. He allowed it because he knew that it all had to happen this way to achieve his purpose on earth. He needed all the witnesses he could get, so that no one could question what really happened that horrible day.
Jesus used the circumstances of abuse to push the tension. Jesus was not a peace keeper as much as he was a peace maker. The only thing is that his peace is for the soul. If that makes you uncomfortable, then you would probably lash out too. His situation opened to the door for him to show the grace that is required for salvation.
Salvation is the greatest gift in life. However, if you follow Jesus that means that you have to accept your thorns too. That means that you need to show grace when you are in intense pain from the thorns. Thorns in our lives are problems, temptations, hardship, loss, and suffering. It comes when you are vulnerable. You can try to be strong all the time, but life has a way of wearing a person down. The thorn can't be avoided by you any more than it could be avoided by Jesus.
Accept the thorn you have in life. It was given to you personally to make you perfect by depending on Jesus. Once you get to the point of brokenness, then you may just see your soul's desperation for God. This is when you learn that Jesus' grace is sufficient to give you life and to use your thorn to glorify Him.
Your thorn can bring God glory. Everyone has problems, but as a Christian you need to be transparent about your struggles. Allow outsiders observe how you handle it. Admit when you don't do it right, but how God can help you turn it around. Let the world see you pray through your pain. Allow them to see how God uses that pain to make you stronger to help others. Let them see when you get relief from the pain. Allow God to use the pain as a tool in your life.
Your weaknesses can become strengths. We are required to work hard in life, but there is working hard in vain and then there is working hard in a way that gives you strength. Don't waste your time and energy on things that do not bring life into your soul.
On the other hand what makes you strong can make you weak. If you become self-reliant, then you are pushing God away. That will only weaken your soul and leave you extra vulnerable. That can be avoided.
Never forget what Jesus endure for you to be able to have eternal life. He did this out of love. He did this so you could learn what is real love. You can use your brokenness and turn it into something beautiful. God has showed us grace, so that we can understand our identity in him.
