To regret is to be sad, repentant, or disappointed over something that happened, was done, or a missed opportunity. It can lead to a life of disappointment, doom and gloom attitude, and the what if game. These three things can be deadly to a productive life. They keep you trapped in the past where you can't move on.
As we close out the year, let throw out the past regrets. Learn from them. Take from them what you need to make life more fulfilling, but let go of the past. Move into the next year with an eagerness of expectation for good things.
Regret eats up your energy and steals your time. We are all responsible for what God gives us in life, but none of us are perfect. We will not do the right or best thing every time. God may even set it up knowing you won't do the best because he loves you enough to teach you a lesson.
What choices in life do you regret? Think about it and look at what influenced that decision or choice. Was it God? If so look at what you could learn from it. If not, then the lesson is allow God in your choice making.
The misuse of time and resources reveals that you are drifting through life. Do you want to live a life that has no impact? If so, then keep it up. If not, it is time to make some changes. God intended us all to be fruitful and make a difference in the lives around us. As we start the new year, we can make decisions today that will lead to a year that is impactful.
The earlier in life you start following God the easier it is to invest in what He directs you time, money, and energy. However, it is never too late to start. Root your mind in God's Word. Invest your time in Him everyday. You choose how much time that will be because He is always there to be with you.
Time is an important gift to utilize. Work hard in what you do in life. Do a good job and avoid laziness. Hard work can build good character if you are willing to do it with a Christlike attitude. No matter any restrictions you have in life, you can be productive and make a difference in your life. Don't work for the day you can retire because you never retire from being a Christian.
Use the things you don't like in life to learn obedience, patience, and humility. We all have to accept criticism sometimes. Just test it to your walk with God. If you need to correct something then do. If it came from a human perspective and does not apply to your walk in life, then you can just move on. You walk with God is the most important thing, not opinions.
Jesus was God born in a human body. He had to grow up and mature as a man in his culture. Once he started his ministry, he only had three years to teach the world over all of time how to follow God. He taught us how to be Christians. He never did anything he regretted.
Jesus invested his time into relationships, even with people that would not appreciate the gift he was offering. His life was revolutionary in how to have a relationship with God. His 33 years in this world changed everything forever and some people never even noticed. That is on them, not him.
People in this world may never notice you. They may never appreciate what you do. That is okay. You just need to focus on being faithful. You don't need a lot of life experience to follow God. You need to read His Word and focus on understanding what He is saying to you. God's Word never changes, but how it impacts your life throughout your life does change.
God only cares about your response to His calling. He will equip you in anything He ask you to do. All you have to do is be willing. If you are willing and follow God. You need to learn to make time to be alone with God and how to pray as you would talk to your best friend, but maybe even more intimately. That is how you are prepared for a life without regret.
