Listening

How does listening impact your life?  The ability to listen impacts every aspect of your life: work, education, friendships, church, relationship with God, and more.  The Bible is your anchor to God.  It helps you tune out what is not beneficial in your life and focus on what is substantial.
Today is more about reflection than me trying to direct your thoughts of feelings.  We all need times of reflection and the beginning of a new year is a great time to get a spiritual alignment done.  That is private and I can't tell you what you need.  You have to listen to God for that one.  I am mostly asking questions that are personal,  They are not for anyone but you and God.  These are questions that I am asking myself too.
Does God have to get your attention in some format or are you ready to hear what He has to say?  He normally has to do something to get our attention at some time or another.  That is part of being human, but does he have to constantly try to get your attention?  How is He trying to get your attention today?
If you are not listening to God, then who are you listening to?  Who makes the most difference in your life?  What gives you a sense of achievement, meaning, or value in life?  These are the things that will influence what or whom you listen to.  They direct where you put your energy.
What kind of influence are you in the world around you?  Is your life all about you, Jesus, or pleasing other people?  We all need to seek God and hear the Holy Spirit speak to our soul to be the best person that we can be.  We need the influence of the Holy Spirit to live a life that follows Jesus and help people from a genuinely pure place.
How is your life making a difference?  What can you do this year to change some things?  So you even want to?  After all it takes time and work and you are already so busy.  Are you willing to give over your time to hear God more intimately?  Life is more than work, pleasure, or being happy all the time.  Wisdom in these areas make them work for your life with God.
We need balance and the only one who can give that to us is God.  It may be time to come up with a plan to spend time in balancing your life: time with God, diet, exercise, work, pleasure, and service.  If we seek God in balance, then we can see Him work in our lives in a new way.  He will listen to your heart and need.  He will respond because He promised He would.
