Death is the consequence to sin. We choose to sin, so we choose to die one day. The amount of unrepentant sin can also lead to a much earlier death than the possible 120 years which is the limit on life for humans.
There were two people in history that never saw death: Enoch and Elijah. They had a special relationship with God, so they were taken alive to Heaven. Jesus, God's own son, faced death so that all people had the opportunity to have eternal life. He did not deserve to die, but He did for you and me.
Enoch only lived in this world for about half (or less) the life span that was normal before the flood. It was odd. He was the first person to ever be removed from this world without dying. There is no explanation on why or how. All we know is that he disappeared from the face of the earth. It was like he was raptured, like the Christians will be in the end of the world.
It leaves a lot of questions like why was he called home when he was? We like to think that it was due to his strong faith. His walk with God allowed him to start eternity sooner. The image I get is he went out to walk with God in prayer and through His closeness with God, he just walked right into heaven. I think it was as natural as when you are on a hike and you take a turn to discover something you didn't expect or know would be there.
The people that follow Jesus need to have such a close relationship with God, that they realize when they are in His presence. You should not wait for church doors to open to get there. You need to be able to get there every day.
Enoch prophesied about judgment and conviction. He predicted Jesus. Jesus is our savior. Follow Jesus and He will take you right to God. There is no reason to wait. Right now is your time.
