Anointed One

 

    Jesus was the anointed one.  He came into this world anointed by God to serve a purpose.  His anointing opened the door for everyone to have a relationship with God.  It was all planned before the fall and was completed at cross.  The resurrection changed everything.  The ascension was a promise of us having the Holy Spirit living in those that follow him.  It also is a promise of what we are waiting for.

    Jesus was anointed to preach the good news to the poor and sick.  The people that think they have everything will not listen to the truth that they actually need Jesus, but those who are fully aware of their needs will be open and ready for him.  

    Jesus came to heal broken hearts.  He came to proclaim liberty from the bondage of sin.  We are all captives to sin or free to live complete lives through Jesus.  He came to offer recovery from the damage of sin.  He gave the blind sight.  He gave the lame the ability to walk.  He gave the lepers clean skin.  He did this because of faith and love.  He is still trying to liberate the oppressed.

    Jesus is the Lamb of God.  His life is an announcement still today.  His baptism shows us our first step in following Jesus.  We know that it was an anointing by God to set off His ministry because God spoke His approval and the Holy Spirit revealed Himself too.  It is the first time God identified Jesus as the son of God since his conception.  It was the catalyst for his troubles in ministry, but is is the starting point for all who follow Jesus.
