Storm Reaction

The severity of the storm sometimes comes down to how we react to it.  If you put your trust in God and know that He is with you, then you are less likely to panic, stress, or give in to fear.  It does not make you immune, but it helps you ride out the storm with more confidence.  Each storm that hits is a chance to give it over to God.
Hurricanes are serious storms.  Even if you survive it, you will face damage.  You will have to work to get your life back in order.  If you are at sea, then you still have to make it to shore.  Being at sea in a hurricane, gale, tsunami, or tropical storm takes skill and God's hand to survive.  Your boat is driven by the storm.  You can find yourself mile off course.  You realize just how little control you have over nature.
How do you survive the storm?  You get rid of everything that is a burden.  You may have to dump everything overboard to survive.  When it comes to emotional storms, you need to let go of what is going to make you drown.  It is the only way you can start to heal.  Hold onto your hope and faith.  It will get you through.  Just don't give up.
What was once important is no longer important in a storm.  That is how a storm can be a gift.  It makes it clear what matters to you.  If you don't like what you see, then make a choice to stop wasting your time on things that don't matter.  Do not give anymore of your energy to things that will just suck the life out of you.
Do not live a life of regret or you may give up.  God is always there.  You just need to accept His help.  If you have no faith, then you will have no hope.  Walk with him faithfully and everything else will sort itself out one way or another.  Your attitude, faith, and choices will determine how you fare the storm.
