A personal prayer life is more than asking God for things and having questions about life for Him. It is also about taking the time to listen for a response, what He wants to say to you, and seeking to be closer to Him. It starts with coming clean with God. He knows everything already, so why not confess it to Him?
When you pray ask God to search your heart and reveal personal truths to you. Be willing to see what God considers unpleasant about you, so that you can repent. If you want to be clean and pure, then you have to be honest with yourself and God.
It is important to pray over your heart condition. The heart is powerful and strong, but it can easily be deceived. The heart is where your desires come from. It controls your emotions, cares, and influences your soul. Your words will reveal your true heart even if you don't want them to.
If your heart is allowed to be deceived, then your mind will follow. You will convince yourself that your wicked ways are good. Then you will fight to defend what your heart wants. Giving into the lies of Satan and temptation will break your mind. You will no longer seek God, but what you want in the moment. It can be a slippery slope.
This is why you need a completely transparent relationship with God. When your heart and mind are being tested, the Holy Spirit can guide your through the trial, test, or deceit to be able to face it honestly and stay pure. He will reveal thought patterns that need to be replaced with a healthy mindset. When your mind is healthy, then your anxiety goes away. Your heart and mind can change and you have control over how.
A clean heart and mind is protected and productive. It will lead to a healthier lifestyle. However a weak or bent mind and heart will always be susceptible to Satan's influence. It will lead to a sick body. This is why you need to call what is wicked to be evil. It is not okay. Sin is wicked. It will not stay hidden forever. Instead of fighting it, turn to Jesus and find everlasting life, a life lived with value, and peace of mind.
What is going on in your mind and body will directly relate to your prayer life. What is going on inside you will direct the way you pray. Sometimes you just need to get right with God.
If you are not a Christian, then you need to ask Jesus to save you and for the Holy Spirit to live in your heart to help you live a life with more peace. This is how you will grow in your prayer life. Pray to love like Him and your roots of faith will grow strong along with understanding who God is.
