There are many questions about Jesus' time after the resurrection. One of the most common questions is why did he have to leave again after 40 days? It must have been hard for his friends to be left behind and not fully understanding what was really happening. Jesus had said that it was good for them if he left because then the Holy Spirit could live in them. They just didn't understand yet.
Jesus had accomplished what he had come to do. His job on earth was done for the time being. He went back home to sit beside God and prepare saints a place in Heaven. He is not taking a vacation or being lazy. He never stopped working for the good of all people.
Jesus is the sacrifice for everyone. Anyone can accept the truth and follow him, but most will not. Too many people will not accept the authority of Jesus as an extension of God. He hold the authority to judge every nation and every person throughout time. He has authority over heaven and earth. He is highly exalted. He is not to be ignored.
Jesus is the intercessor for all Christians. He is our advocate. He is the bridge from a life of slavery to a life with God. He is our mediator. He is fully man and fully God, so that he could be our substitute. He took all our sins on as his own and stood in our place to receive the verdict we deserved.
The only way we can be close to God or have any relationship with Him is through Jesus. He is the only way to have salvation. He is our hope in life. His love and existence is eternal. We are a work in progress, but Jesus is our example. He gives us authority to live like him in life.
