God's Promise: Be Your God

 

"Don't be afraid, for I am with you.  Don't be discouraged, for I am Yahweh Shammah.  Elohei Mauzzi will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.  See, all your angry enemies lie there, confused and humiliated.  Anyone who opposes you will die and come to nothing.  You will look in vain for those who tried to conquer you.  Those who attack you will come to nothing.  For I hold you by your right hand-I, the Lord your God.  And I say to you, Don't be afraid.  I am here with you."  Isaiah 41:10-13

    The promise God made to be your God covers many things like giving you strength, being present, and protection.  He does not abandon His family (His people).  This promise is meant to be a comfort.  You choose to have a relationship with God and He will take care of you in every single situation.  

    If He feels far away, He is not.  Pray over and look into your life in the areas where things are not working.  It normally has to do with decisions you made or sin in your lifestyle.  Other times it could be God is pruning or preparing you for something.

    God is there.  He is prepared to give you what you need to work, worship, and honor Him in your life.  You need strength, then ask for it.   Sometimes it will come supernaturally to take care of a particular event or situation.  Other times, God will work your faith to make you stronger like a coach works his team.  

    God will not put you in dangerous situations without having an escape route.  He puts you in places that make you uncomfortable to help you grow and to serve His long term purpose.  It is an honor to be able to be a part of His plan even if you don't understand what it is all the time.  

    The more you understand who God is, the better you can understand your identity in Him.  He commands you not to be afraid not because life isn't scary, but because He wants you to trust Him and see how He is working in and around your life.  He wants you to choose to have a personal relationship with Him that provides safety, comfort, and security in your soul.  

    God knows that life gets overwhelming, but He wants you to lean on Him as He gets you through it.  Trust Him not to allow you to fall or fail if you obey Him as the Holy Spirit guides you through all of life.  No matter how powerful the enemy may appear, God is more powerful.  He will defeat anything that comes against you because they are coming against Him and His family.  To go to war against God's people is to go to war against God Himself because you are His redeemed.  You are His family.  

    God will keep you from shame, disgrace, or destruction.  You only need to understand what God considers to be shameful,  Society may tell you that something is shameful, but God may be removing things that are holding you back.  Consider and pray over the context.  Compare what the world is telling you to what God is telling you in His Word.  Listen to Him about what your value is in this world.
