"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's Peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Sar Shalom. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me - everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:6-9
This is a promise that when you pray you can let go of everything that brings you anxiety and worry because you trust God to take care of it. It is the promise that prayer will change your perspective and how you think. It is a promise that prayer allows peace in your heart and mind. It is all about communicating with God and trusting Him to take care of you.
You cannot focus on your anxiety and worry when you are allowing God to fill you with gratitude and good thoughts. That is why Paul states focus on what is true, noble, right, pure, beautiful, moral execellence, and praiseworthy in the world. It will replace what is scaring you about the unknown future. Remember how God has come through for you in the past to reassure yourself that He will do it again. This allows transcendent peace into your heart.
Prayer with petition allows you to have thanksgiving for all God does in your life. Focusing on what you are thankful for changes your heart and mental perspective on situations. It will allow the peace from the Holy Spirit to guard your mind. Prayer allows you to take what you learn from God to apply it to life. This will accumulate in results of God's peace protecting and blessing you. Even if nothing in your circumstances change it doesn't mean you can't be thankful for God and what He gives you.
Prayer brings peace into your heart and mind. No one can take that away from you unless you allow it. God will sustain His righteous family. Nothing you give to God is too much of a burden. He will take it gladly and allow you to see what He can do with it as a gift of love. The Holy Spirit will guide your plans so that they will prosper and serve a purpose and not be meaningless. He has everything under control. He is the order in your life. You only have to pray, petition, and obey to reap the blessings of peace.
