The law reveals our sins to us. It shines a big spot light upon the thing or things that we are doing or parts of who we are that are unworthy of God. We find ourselves wanting to do good, but turning to sin instead. We do the things that we don't want to do, but seem to do anyway.
When we become Christians our perspective is cleared up a little. You are no longer looking at life through a dirty window, but a nice clean one. You are able to see how sin brings death through deception. Satan tries to use the law for his advantage, but all he does is expose himself as the liar.
God gave us the law to protect our spirits, but our very nature is unspiritual. The more you desire to do good, the more Satan is trying to make you fall. To serve God makes you a spiritual warrior. You have to protect your mind or you will never gain any ground. It is difficult because that is where Satan attacks the fiercest. If he breaks you there, then you will never be able to serve God fully.
This is where Jesus steps in. He is our first response rescuer. He helps us protect our minds, so that we are no longer a slave to the law or our human nature. We have to work at it daily. We need to start the day in prayer and get in the Word when we can and as often as we can. Don't ready it and go on your day, but think about what you read throughout the day. Pray about what God is trying to tell you in what your read.
Romans 7: 7-25
