The United States is a nation of work-a-holics. We don't stop to consider that we are destroying our bodies, mental state, and health to be able to keep the pace or stay ahead. We get medicine, go to a Chiropractor, see a counselor, or whatever else to be able to keep the pace. We are raised in this mentality. We are raised to believe that if you are not then you are seen as lazy or someone not willing to work. I know that is true about some, but others just know how to have balance. We all should take a moment to ask God what where is be best to put our efforts into and where we need to establish boundaries to stay healthy.
Jesus is the best example. He Got tired from all the people always following Him and wanting things from Him. He knew that was why He was there, but He needed breaks too. For a Pastor, Sunday is not a day of rest. Most that I know usually take Monday off to make sure that they do rest.
Jesus would step away from the multitudes to be alone with God or His closest friends. When He included them, He would use it as a teaching opportunity. One of these teaching opportunities became a huge blessing for all believers. He taught them the Christian psychology of how to live a blessed life.
Today, we call this talk the Sermon of Beatitudes. It is so powerful because it teaches us how to be good to those whom want to harm us and still find rejoicing in our hearts. We know where we will get our rewards. We know we will face persecution before ever getting there. The question is where do you want your rewards? Are you willing to be persecuted to get them in Heaven? Are you the salt and light in this world?
Matthew 5: 1-16
