Where to Start

One reason why people have a hard time getting started in new projects is because they don't know where to start.  They may be ready to put in the long hours, but they need a little guidance.  Some people need their hands held until they get their confidence to succeed on their own.  However, when it comes to ministry that rarely happens.  The people who can teach you are so busy with their own ministries, they don't have time to do the work for others.  Look to them for guidance, but be their friend too.
Jesus began His three year powerful mission by spending 30 years preparing.  He then got sanctified by the Holy Spirit in Baptism and blessed by His father.  Next came the fast and facing temptation head on.  Once He succeeded in those steps, He was ready to start.  But where?  How?
His cousin had been thrown into prison to fulfill another prophecy.  He had to of felt that.  I am sure He wanted to go to John's aide, but He had a job to do and He knew His time was short and valuable.  He could not be distracted by person desires.  He began His ministry with people.  He recruited Peter and Andrew to follow Him to learn how to help.  They dropped everything they were doing to be a part of what He was starting.  Then He got the brothers, James and John.
Jesus grew His band of devoted students and friends.  He taught them how to do all that He was doing.  He spread the News of who He was, but it grew through the people He invested His life into.  It is all about the people you chose to let into your life.  You can learn how to do it successfully through Jesus.  He is willing to hold your hand every step of the way.

Matthew 4: 12-25
