Plans

We all have plans.  Some of us really enjoy the planning process.  However, a lot of the time the plans do not go as they were set.  Unforeseen factors come into the picture.  You can think you have covered every aspect, then the unexpected still happens.  It can be frustrating or it can be exciting.  It brings the new into your life.  It makes the brain start to work from scratch.  It keeps life from being dull.
King David planned on building a grand home for God, but was not allowed.  That was a huge disappointment.  He could have sulked.  He could have gotten angry.  He could have proceeded and failed.  He chose to look at it through God's perspective.  He trusted God to direct his son and that his son would do it well because he took the time to train and prepare him.
David held an assembly with all his officials, from small to large.  No one was excluded.  He went over what he had designed and how he was giving it over to Solomon to complete.  He had chosen Solomon to be the next king.  He was not what they expected, but he was giving them respect to come to terms with it now before he died.  He expected them to be there for Solomon.
He warned his officials to always follow God's commands.  He warns Solomon about what it means to be a good king and what it would mean if he was not.  The Holy Spirit had given David every detail of the temple, so the design was perfect.  It had no flaws.  This included how it should be decorated.  It would be a national project.  This means everyone would work together to make God's plans a reality.  The reward would be a magnificent temple for God and an united nation.
