A shepherd is a person that tends and rears sheep. So why would a person ever have a shepherd. It sound insulting. Sheep are know as one of the dumbest animals in the world. People aren't stupid.
However, God is my shepherd. He is my keeper. He makes sure I stay safe and takes care of my needs. He herds me back to my path when I wonder too far. I am not stupid, but that does not mean that I don't do unwise things and need saving from myself at times.
God does not leave His people no matter what. He is there when we are in dire need. He provides in every situation, but we have to do our part too. He leads His people to good places: comfort, love, and hope. He can take away our fear as we journey on His path.
As we age it can be scary or hard to watch the changes on the inside and out. Its not easy to see the limitations that we once did not have. However, we can find comfort in Him in all the stages of life. We don't have to fear death. We don't have to fear living. Our soul is protected.
