Feeling Lost

 

    When you feel lost in the world, in your life, in your mind, in your emotions, it is a vulnerable time.  It may make you feel rejected.  It can drive you to do uncharacteristic things.  You can try going through it on your own and mess things us so much that it feels like you can never make it back. but you can.  No matter where you are in the fog, mess, or chaos you can always chose to stop doing it on your own and turn to God.  

    Sometimes it feels like God has forsaken you.  It is a confusing time.  You may be doing everything that you believe that you are supposed to be doing, but you still feel like He has abandoned you.  It is lonely and confusing.  It can be scary.  This deep soul loneliness is hard to fight.  It is hard not to give into the human nature and do anything that will make you feel better even for just a moment.  Especially when you are turning it over to God and things don't change immediately.

    When you feel lost, it is important to meditate on the promises of God.  If you meditate on His Word, then Satan can't whisper his lies into your ears: your not good enough, not attractive, not smart, not worthy.  The list goes on.  Try to remember all the things that God has done for you to fight the negative voices in your head.  Try to see yourself the way God sees you while you pray through it.

    No matter how lost you feel, God is there.  He is in every small moment, not just the big ones.  Fight the self-pity and self-focus that will distort your perspective.  Everyone has pain in their lives, not just you.  Other people need help, not just you.  Hurt people do have a tendency to hurt others, try to help others while you push through your pain.  It may just help.

    Let God rescue you.  Don't fight the things that He is trying to give you.  Don't try to take control of the situation, but find a way to work through it prayerfully.  You will not succeed in your own strength.  God doesn't get tired, so pray with thanksgiving in your heart for what He is doing in your life.  He can give you some of His strength if you will just take it.  Take it in faith and praise God because He is in control.
