Listening for God's Voice

Do you know God's voice?  There is no comparison, but the closest I can come up with is knowing your dog's bark from other dogs, your cat's meow, you child's cry.  It is knowing Him.  It is something that can be tuned out so easily, but if your subconscious is listening for it, it alerts you as soon as He calls out to you.
You can feel God when you are worshipping Him, but what about the mundane day?  Do you seek to hear His voice when every thing just feels ordinary.  He is there to talk to you and guild you through your day.  You just have to reach out and listen.  His very voice holds the power to change everything.
When you have a real relationship with God it is almost like a marriage.  You can take it for granted and let the relationship decline to the point where He is almost a stranger living within your soul.  Or you can make a little effort to let yourself be known and venture to know Him.  When you invest, His voice is almost a part of who you are.  It can be so close that you don't even realize that you are listening to Him.  It is just a part of you.  it is your strength.
God rules over what He created: the world, humans, and angels.  Not in a domineering way, but a loving guidance.  His love is not passive.  It is set.  It is firm.  It never changes.  We are the ones that change and adapt.
This is what makes your relationship with God different from a marriage.  In marriage, the husband and wife both change to make the marriage thrive.  With God there is no end.  Marriages fail every day, but God will never fail you.  Listen for His voice and you will be strong and have an inner peace no matter what is happening in your life.
