Solomon ends his books on proverbs with a king that was also an oracle who was taught by his mother in wisdom. Then he concludes with a wise woman. Solomon understood that a wise man appreciates the qualities that wise woman offers and can learn from her too. This last section is different from all the other chapters. It has a bit of story and a bit of the description of the ideal or wise woman.
King Lemuel was taught by his mother not to chase women or anything that would risk what he had built or his reputation. She was a wise woman. She taught him not to be a drunk or an oppressive leader. Only a miserable, hopeless person needs to drink. A leader does not or he will forget his purpose.
She taught him to know what to fight for. He knew to speak up for the underdog and be a fair judge. He defended the poor and the needy. Basically, she trained him on how to be a good, wise, just leader.
The wise woman is a good woman and wife. She has noble character. He husband has confidence in her abilities. She brings good things into his life, works hard, and is dependable. She will do what is necessary to make a comfortable home with food. She makes sure her staff is treated properly. She cleans and is a smart shopper. She is a vigorous worker. She makes smart investments and that is not secluded to financial.
The wise woman treats people that have less than her lovingly. She is proactive, so her needs are not many. She allows her husband to be respected and even more acknowledged than herself within the community. She is strong and has dignity.
A wise woman knows how to laugh, even at herself. Her words carry wisdom because her tongue is faithful to God. She is aware of what is happening within her home. She is not lazy. Her children love and respect her. Her husband speaks her praises.
A wise woman understands that charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting. She chooses to focus on her relationship with God rather than things she can't change or control. She has a healthy fear of God. This wisdom will earn her rewards on earth and in heaven and she is the reward for his husband.
