Wise Speech

Did you know that it takes wisdom to talk properly?  We live in a tough world where things said are normally misunderstood, misconstrued, or judged.  It is nice when you are able to find people that you can be 100% yourself around.  This is where philosophy comes in.  There are politics in the government, schools system, work, church, and even in the family.  It can be hard to know when to speak and how to word things sometimes to get the point to be understood.
Solomon knew this better than most people ever will.  He freely shared his wisdom that God gave him.  In this chapter there are 29 proverbs to explain why you need to think before you speak and how that is applied to everyday life.
God desires the best for you.  That includes a good reputation.  If you have a good reputation, then people are more likely to listen to you.  God doesn't have favorites, but He does have people that He can get His message through more than others.  You are His creation.  He is invested into you.  He wants the best for you, so look for the signals or signs on when to speak and when to hold your tongue.
Wise speech can protect you from danger.  Some wisdom comes from experience, but most comes from listening to the Holy Spirit.  It requires humility that honors life.  It is the responsibility of the adults in society to teach the children how to speak.  This wisdom does not come naturally.  It has to be taught.  We all have to be trained and the best training is done at a young age.  It is being led by example more than lectures.  It is important to teach children to be independent to be adults, but submissive to God always.
Be generous and God will bless you.  Do not allow yourself to be pulled into petty quarrels or listen to insulting language.  Work at having a pure heart and speak graciously to people.  God is listening and He will frustrate the unfaithful.  Listen to God's Word and apply it to become wise.  This pleases Him and earns you respect among people.  To crush the oppressed will bring disaster upon yourself.
God's Word is the truth.  It teaches you how not to abuse the vulnerable or weaker than yourself.  He has a special protection over these people.  Avoid angry personalities or you will find yourself becoming an angry person too.  Bad habits tend to rub off on those that are near and it will cause personal disaster.  Do not borrow money or your life will be in debt to another.  Instead serve God and wait for Him to provide.  Chose to live a life of integrity no matter how hard that may seem.
