Passionate Love

 

    Passionate love is thrilling, but real passion goes beyond the chemistry.  It is where two people are connected emotionally, spiritually, and working at their relationship.  Passion is not always expressed physically.   It can be in looks, conversations, and even the small things in life that are done together or for each other.

    Love is like a beautiful rare water lily which is magical and life-giving.  It needs to be appreciated and respected.  It needs to be tended to keep alive and fully bloom.  It is like a delicious fruit to be enjoyed.  True "death do us part" love is rare.  

    The in love feelings are powerful, but they don't tell you if your love is the lasting kind. True love takes time and commitment.  It is a discission to stick through anything with this one person, no matter what.  It has God's army backing it while Satan's army attacks it because once you become one you are a powerful force.  Satan doesn't want that.

    Being in love grabs attention because their energy pours out onto those around them.  It produces delight, comfort, and a sweetness.  True love goes further and produces strength of unity that is strengthened by listening to and for each other.  It is not something that can be forced, but it grows in patience.  When you are older, it makes you feel young.  

    Marriage has seasons of love, but the key thing is to wait for marriage.  Don't be premature.  Instead have a mutual resolve to build the foundation before the unity.  Marital love is unconditional, but there are seasons where it may feel dead.  When you are going through a winter of love, remember that spring always comes back around.  Go to each other willingly, but it is okay to say no occasionally.  The key is that it is occasional and not the norm.  Sex should never be forced, even in marriage, but a desired union.  

    Try to look at each other with eyes of a lover.  It may be hard sometimes, but remember what made you fall in love with your spouse and bring the flame back.  Maybe flirt, write cute notes, anything to keep the pure passion in your marriage.  You belong to each other, so you might as well make the best of it.  If you are both willing to work at your marriage, it doesn't matter how long it has been, the passion can come back.
