Romance

     What do you consider romantic?  Do you consider yourself romantic?  Romance is more than what the rom cons or Disney show you.  Romance does not end the moment you come together.  It is a life journey if you marry.  It is more than the big grand gestures.  Romance can be simple like doing the dishes after your spouse cooks.  It can just be hanging out reading a book.  What is considered romantic depends on the couple.

    When you are in love everything has a beautiful tone to it.  The person you are in love with can do no wrong.  They are wonderful in every way.  Men and women express this differently.  Men may appear to only be interested in sex as the woman may only want to spend time together.  Where you do you find the balance?  Romance.  You learn your romantic rhythm by communicating your expectations and listening to theirs, then find something that works for both of you.  

    God is not in love with us, but He does love us.  He finds us beautiful even when we are our ugliest.  He loves us without motive.  He woos us in purity.  We can learn a lot about romance from God's pursuit to save us from ourselves.  For example when newlyweds fight they may want to connect physically before fully resolving the issue.  It is wiser to wait until everything is reconciled first.  That way you can fully connect emotionally first.  It leaves no room for doubt or unresolved anger.

    God created man and woman for each other.  God intended us to become one with no other lovers.  His plan was a lot simpler than we ever allow it to actually be.  Find a partner in live, marry, and have a family.  A family is not always going to be a traditional family.  The kids may consist of pets, adoption, fostering, or something else.  Singles families may consist of friends.  

    If you made mistakes in the past, the people before don't matter anymore when you find the right person.  Be honest about your past, but move forward.  Make sure your intended really understands what they mean to you.  Be patient if they need to work through things.  Solomon had 60 wives, 80 concubines, but only 1 true love.  Make your love believe they are loved and honor that love.

    We have fallen far away from God's original plan, but we can still find romance.  We just need to give up some of the ill conceived ideas of what romance is and make it realistic.  Stop demanding the impossible from yourself and others and you may just find something that makes you happy.  Romance is meant to entice the desire to find reconciliation during the hard times and be a little flirty in the good times.
