Jerusalem was a busy city full of life. Isaiah did not enjoying seeing the city undergo judgment in his vision or know that he would see it actually happen. He saw the leaders flee. They abandoned their people, but were captured and taken prisoner. What he saw caused him anguish.
It must have been painful for Isaiah to watch his people self-destruct. We all have to face consequences one day to answer for our life choices. All out defenses will be striped. We will cry, wail, and mourn and some of us will still find joy and hope. Those that chose to believe in Jesus will have to face judgment, but we also have redemption.
God knows the day that each person will die. No one else, not even His angels. That day our sins will be atoned or answered for. We have choices today, but once we draw our last breath the choices are made. When we believe, we then have the choice to live our lives for God or fighting against Him.
Jerusalem's choice was to live for themselves and put God on the back burner. That meant that they lost their honor. It led to their disgrace and death. Their authority was handed over to another where their life decisions were stripped. They forgot to love God and put their faith first and it was costly.
Isaiah 22
