Covenant Reminder

Sometimes we need reminders.  Our minds get full of all the things that we need to do, want to do, or other things.  We get distracted.  God understands how easily we loose focus, so He gives us little reminders sometimes.  The reminder about the covenant is that it is a binding relationship between you and God, bound by Jesus.  It needs to come first.
God used Jeremiah as His reminder to His people of the covenant that was made on Mount Sinai.  The covenant requires obedience because when a new covenant is made it doesn't dismiss the previous covenant's standing.  If you enter into the covenant with God and chose to live as if nothing has changed, then you are cursing your own life.  Do whatever God commands in honor of Him.  In reward, God enriches lives and provides financial wealth.  Disregard His commands and you curse your life.
It is really simple how all people have to do is to listen and obey.  Simple is not always easy, but the concept is not hard.  Our problem is that we rather focus on ourselves or our desires rather than to listen.  We would rather live how we want to live than obey.  People tend to have stubborn hearts that pursue evil because it is more appealing in the moment.  A stubborn heart brings curses of disaster to the person's life.  They will not find help or escape.
Idols bring shame upon the lives.  It hurts God to see people rebel against Him for meaningless pursuits.  That is why He orders us to endure the storms of life and repent any evil in our heart and mind.
To follow God gives you a level of freedom.  You should feel bad for those that refuse to follow God's Word.  They don't understand respect, love, or God.  The people that do follow God are plotted against.  They are like gentle lambs being led to the slaughter by the wicked.  Jeremiah had no idea that people had schemes against Him.  He was obeying God and that was all.  He had no idea that it made it where people hated him.
However, we have God who judges justly.  He will test your heart and mind and if He finds evil, then He will take revenge for His people.  He will bring death to evil.  He protects His people.
