Making Request

God does not make request.  God gives commands.  We are the ones that make request.  We sometimes even make request of God.  When our lives are falling apart, we almost get demanding in our request.  He will always respond, but it may not be the way you want.
During your life you will have times of drought: physically and spiritually.  There will be times of mourning and it gets more difficult because you do not have what you need.   You will not find it no matter how many places you look.  This can cause dismay and despair because your life feels barren.  It feels like you are surrounded by death.  It is devasting, so you send your laments to God.
When everything appears to be dead, sins are more exposed.   All the carefully hidden sins begin to become exposed as your energy is sapped.  You begin to wonder and make request of God.  He will use this time to show you your own wickedness.  It can be a time of punishment, refinement, or repentance.
When you live in your sin, fasting means nothing.  Your prayers are meaningless.  Why bother to pray if you are unwilling to listen to God's response.  It becomes a form of self talk.  Don't listen to false prophets or other people who have their own agenda.  They will suffer for their lies.  If you follow, then you will only suffer more because they lead people astray.  When you do pray make it about God and your relationship with Him.
Sometimes in life, the disaster is personal.  It is brought upon you or those close to you for sins that you refuse to repent.  This suffering grieves God because He does love you.  However, peace will not come until you are willing to make personal changes and turn to Him.  Without the spiritual change, your personal terror will continue, perhaps for eternity.
We all have to acknowledge our own wicked ways.  When you repent you need to turn from them.  Enter into the eternal covenant with God and don't turn back.  Never break a covenant with God.   Put all your hope into Him because He will never break a covenant with you.
