Moral decline is not a quick thing. It happens slowly. It is subtle. That is why we don't see it until it is so far beyond your comprehension. Now that I am older, I really understand this. I can look back and see how far our nation has fallen morally. I see things today that I never thought could happen in my life time. What can we do to change that?
It is sad for the person who watches the moral decline and feels helpless to change anything. Micah struggled with his nation's moral fall and it was still declining when he became a prophet. It seemed like all the faithful had fallen behind or vanished. Micah chose to look to God for support and answers to his despondent questions. He knew God was his salvation, but how can one person change anything? Prayer.
The government was bribes to get anything accomplished. If you didn't have something that the officials wanted, then you and your issues would fall into the cracks. What was good in their eyes was evil in God's and vise versa. Evil plotted and friends were few, if any. The government and influential friends were not to the trusted or depended upon. Women did whatever they had to to survive. Children no longer respected their parents. Family was even the enemy.
When your enemy falls, do not rejoice. If you rejoice over the loss of eternal souls, then can you be a real Christian? God will have His people stand again, so make sure your heart is ready. God is lighting the way, if you only look at the dark, then you may miss His light.
Micah waited on God for the answers for his questions. The waiting paid off. God did answer Micah's prayers. He commanded Micah to be a shepherd to His people. God promised to perform miracles for them like in the days of Exodus. They will be ashamed at that point. They will halt to acknowledge God, then praise Him in awe. God will forgive iniquity and rebellion to those whom ask because His love is faithful. He has to show compassion because that is who He is, but if you reject Him, then He will reject you in the end.
