To be a mature Christian is to move beyond the foundation of faith into acts of living out that faith: Baptism, laying hands, teach about the resurrection, and use wise judgment. What we do with our lives testifies through the spirit what our faith really is. It is all about getting out of the comfortable into the world of God.
God is never unjust. He does not forget what you do in His name. He does dismiss the love you show His people in honor of Him. Do not lose focus. Stay diligent in what you do without letting anyone or anything distract you from you purpose. This is a life long journey that never stops until you reach your inheritance in Heaven.
Do not be lazy. It shows where you have gotten discouraged. Instead pursue patience, so that you can see God working when it feels like nothing is happening. He has given us promises and because His nature is unchanging and pure, then we know that He will keep His promises: he can't lie and salvation is real.
If you walk away, then it does not show true faith. It shows a superficial hope where you thought you would gain more in this life than what was promised. It shows contempt for the Holy Spirit. They will produce thorns and thistles which are useless. It reveals that they are cursed and not saved. No matter how your read the passage it all means that if you reject Jesus, then on judgment day you will be rejected.
True faith get stronger in the hard times. It may not look like it immediately because we all have to work through our faith and that requires some ups and downs. The point is you never stop pursuing those answers with God. It means you get close enough where you can tell Him when you are angry, disappointed, or hurt. You can confess that you don't understand without fear.
Take hold of your hope, your faith, and be encouraged. Jesus is your anchor in the world that is almost always stormy. He keeps you from losing your way even if you go a little off course for a little while. He is your high priest that anchors your soul to God. He is worth waiting patiently to receive the inheritance He created for you.
