God and Jesus are the judges of the living and the dead. It doesn't matter how you think you have lived as a good person. It doesn't matter what other people think of you. The only one you need to please is God. This means that in every season of life we have a calling, a ministry.
All Christians have a ministry. It can be a coffee house, preaching, running a support ministry, helping in a ministry, missions, or just being a light in the dark work force. No matter what you ministry is, you are expected to do it in a way that glorifies God. It is not about what you get out of it. You are meant to be ready, prepared, and correct when you need to preach or answer questions for people about your relationship with God.
The way you live speaks louder than your words. That is why we all need accountability partners. These partners are people that we have built relationships. You need to trust them, so that you will listen to their rebuke if you need it. They will encourage you when you are doing good.
A strong faith with true accountability will help you be patient and listen to the Holy Spirit carefully. You will hear His instruction because you are listening for it. The time will come when obeying the Holy Spirit will not be tolerated in the world. We are so close to that time where the world thinks we believe in myth and will not listen to the truth. Go ahead and forgive them now, so you can let it go.
You have to get strong, so that you will know how to do the right thing when the world tells you that you are wrong. The world may even call you fanatical or evil because you stand for what God says is good. Exercise your self-control every day, so that you will be able to endure when it is important to fulfill your ministry. Hold onto your sound doctrine like a life raft in the middle of the dark ocean. It will be a struggle, but if you are prepared, then you will succeed.
Your ministry is to fight the good fight so that faith can flourish. You endure no matter how hard things get so that when your time comes to face God you can be righteous. God will rescue His people from evil, but that does not mean that He will save your life. It just means that evil cannot have a claim on His family. It means that we are delivered to Him in Heaven to live in His glory for eternity. It means that we have the Holy Spirit now to get us through anything and still have grace.
2 Timothy 4
