Abiel was a Benjaminite. His name means "my father is the Lord". The nickname for Abiel is Abe. His father was Zeror. He had a son named Kish. Abiel was a family man according the scriptures.
Abiel raised Kish to be a good man that would follow God. Kish had a son giving Abiel a grandson named Saul. We all know how impressive and good looking Saul was. He was the grandson Abiel could be proud to have in his family. While Abiel lived, Saul was a good king.
Abiel was a popular name in those days. David also had a mighty man named Abiel that served him. This Abiel was a loyal soldier. He would do anything to make Kind David happy, even risk his own life . His bravery is what left his name to live on in Biblical history. He was a mighty man.
From these two Abiels we can learn to walk with God, not ahead or lagging behind. You can see the plan God lays out for you. Trust God to give you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Pray for discernment, mercy, compassion, and agape love. If you stay with God, then you will be strong. No matter if time forgets who you are, God never will.
