Abihub means "father of praise". That is a name that holds honor. He was the father of Eliakim. Like most of the people listed in the genealogy, we don't have a lot to go by, but the name tells the story of character.
Abihub was an heir of Ehud that lived in Geba. They were exiled to Manahath. Abihub's father Gera led the family into exile. His brother was Uzza. This is not much to go by to know why he is remembered in the Bible. We do know that he was faithful and it appears like he honored his family. That goes a long way.
If we chose to live a life of following Jesus, then our name may carry on in some way or another. With the way the world is functioning now, it should at the very least make us stand out.
1 Chronicles 8: 1-6
