Abital

Abital means "father of dew" in Hebrew.  It was a popular name, but this Abital lived during the time of Saul battling David.  David was getting stronger while Saul was getting weaker.  Abital was a part of David's family.  She was the mother of David's fifth son, Stephatiah.  Stephatiah was born in Hebron in the seven and half years he reigned there before moving to Jerusalem where the rest of his family was born and raised.
Women are not unaffected by war.  Even if they are not in the battle themselves, women have always been a part of war.  They set up positions of strength for the warriors.  Abital must have been a very strong woman because she is always listed with her son.  It may also mean that she was beloved by her son.  She was not forgotten even when the Jewish nation went into Exile.  David recognized the importance of women and respected them.
A strong woman is a woman that pursues God and His strength.  God will give her what she needs and more to give strength to other people.  This is a gift to women (single, widowed, or married).  Our marital status does not define us.  It is our relationship with God that define us.
