To adorn is to arrange, put into place, to decorate. It is primarily in connection with women in the Bible. It was a way to address how women should dress. It was a subject of importance because like it not how a woman dresses does directly affect the men around them. It can set the atmosphere on how a woman is treated in church, work, or socially.
David pointed out that wisdom and understanding come from God. His knowledge is a deep fountain of truth. Don't lose sight of common sense or discernment because they will refresh your soul. They adorn who you are like fine jewelry. It keeps you safe like a good pair of hiking shoes that keep you from falling. It is like a security blanket that helps you feel safe so you can sleep soundly. God will keep you safe if you trust Him.
Joy in God can be overwhelming because He adorns you with salvation. It covers you like fine clothing. It drapes you in righteousness. You spiritually look like the bride or groom ready for the wedding. When God shows His judgment, you will stand out as His. Don't wait. Go ahead and start praising Him now.
One day Jesus's disciples were talking about how beautifully God's temple was adorned. The stone work was magnificent and the walls were beautiful. It looked like it would last forever. Jesus however pointed out that the time would come when it would be demolished. Nothing last forever, but the eternal spiritual world. We don't need to get too attached to worldly things because it is only here for now.
Don't be concerned with outward beauty: adorned Jewry, hair, or clothing. It is how people are adorned in the soul that matters. Beauty comes from within. A gentle and quiet spirit is unfading beauty that is precious to God. This is how a holy woman needs to adorn herself by putting her trust in God and accepting the authority over them: husband, father, boss, or government. Sarah was known as one of the most beautiful women in history and she called Abraham master. She did right by God and her husband.
