Satan is the father of sin. His issue is with God, but he loves to attack people to try to hurt God. He uses our innocence against us and then takes it away when we fall for temptation. Sin opens your eyes to things that we never needed to know or understand. To be innocent is not to be stupid, but it does take away confusion, conflict, debate, or anything else that may steal our peace.
The only way we can get back to an innocent state of mind is to confess where we fell short of God's standards and commit to following Jesus (or get back on the path of following Jesus). When we are forgiven and we accept God's forgiveness for ourselves, then we can find that internal peace again. That is not something Satan wants to see happen. He will fight that with all he has.
Satan is petty. He does not want you to see that sin is sin. Nothing changes that fact. We can pretend that it is okay. We can day that we are good people. That does not matter. We are deciding who is a good person by our standards. The only standards that matter are God's. The lies that we tell ourselves to hide from the truth is the voice of Satan. Sometimes he speaks so consistently and loudly that we can't even hear God's voice without help.
If Satan can get you to hide from God, then he has managed to break the relationship that you had with God. He goes after your customs, routine, and patterns that you have with God. He will use shame as a tactic to keep you down.
When he kills your innocence, and we all lost our innocence at some point, then we become aware of our vulnerability in the world. We start to see the world as a dangerous and ugly place. Some people may feel like they have to conquer it. We see all the distractions that become more influential. We lose track of who we are in God. Basically you now see good and evil in a new way where it hold power over you.
Satan's design for people is to get us to disobey God in any way possible. Once he does that, then he has us. The things is we do not belong to him. We were created by God. We belong to God, so all you have to do is choose God and Satan's control over you is destroyed. That does not meant that he still does not have influence, but you will have the power to fight against him and discover the freedom in truth. You will be able to see yourself through God's eyes again and establish that relationship that fills all the empty places in your soul.
Satan wants you to be empty. The emptier you are, then the more power he has over you. However, he will have to face God and pay for all the damage he created and caused in this world throughout time. He will face justice and everyone that followed him will face it and keep following him into the eternal judgment where there will be no escape.
This truth grieves God. He does not want one of His beloved creations to enter hell, but since He gave us the gift of free will he has to watch it. It is our choice. If we go to hell, then it was because of us, not God. Turn to God now. See how much He loves you. See the perfection that He has in mind for you.
We cannot claim that we have not been warned. God made it clear what His expectations were and the consequences for disobedience. Sin leads to eternal death. We were never intended to understand evil. Having our eyes opened to it has caused nothing but pain, destruction, and chaos in our lives. It has become so common that we don't even realize the source of our pain, suffering, and conflict most of the time.
Satan loves to chaos. He loves it when our homes fall apart. He is so happy when we lose our innocence because he can really start to play with our heads. He is elated when he messes with our relationship with God to the point where we loss fellowship. That is normally when he leaves us alone because he has won. It is when we get back on track, start to pray, and seek God that he comes after us with all he has.
God could have left us to our sin. He could have destroyed the world a long time ago and started over with something else. He did not. He loves us. He is true to His Word. He will give us all the chance that we can have to turn from a sinful lifestyle and follow Jesus. It is easier to follow Satan, but it is a meaningless life.
Isn't it better to follow someone who fights for our lives, seeks us out, and loves us enough to protect us as much as we will allow? God does all that. Jesus covered our sin and clothed us in righteousness. We just have to follow him. He left Heaven and came to Earth in a human body to teach us a better way. He shed his innocent blood, so that we could find innocence again. That is bigger and better than anything Satan can offer or do.
