On the first day of Creation, God created the heavens and earth that was covered in water. If there were witnesses, they would not be able to see the ground under all the water. The Holy Spirit hovered over the water helping it to keep it's form. I think He was helping God create the atmosphere so that it could hold life while God spoke light int existence..
The Holy Spirit's job in the trinity is life. God Spoke light into existence. When He speaks things happen. Jesus was always going to the sacrifice, the ruler, and the final judge. He is the one that taught us what love really is. The Holy Spirit is what empowers life. Their relationship always has been what we call uniformitarian. They all have their different aspects, but work as one.
The Holy Spirt hovering over the unformed world is compared to him being like an eagle. He was protecting God's creation. He provided life to what would only be things. He is still the protector of this world. He is the source of life for all Christians.
Light was spoken into existence. Nothing could create light other than God. It's creation was like flipping a light switch in the house, but for the entire world. God's light that will never burn out or dim. It only gets dark because it is on the other side of the world at night. Did you know that it is believed that the light proceeded the sun? God provides more light than just the sun. It is just our warmest and brightest light.
All of our creations are just imitation of what God already created. That is why we have to approach science faithfully. Does the science we are interested in honor God? Is it biblical? If the answer is no, then it doesn't matter if it would solve a problem of right now. It means it would cause much worse problems down the road.
Light is the first of the beautiful gifts that God gave people. It is perfect because it helps us see everything else He does for us. It is a gift, but it is not God. We do not need to worship what He created, but worship Him for creating it.
