Misplaced faith is offensive to God. You are either serious about your commitment or you are not. God is serious about His commitment to you. The Holy Spirit intercedes on your behalf. It is good to ask probing questions and not take information at face value because it can be manipulated to serve a purpose. God doesn't manipulate.
Why would you pursue false gods when God is offering the truth? It says that you are not interested in the truth. It declares that you think you do not need God. It will be a bad day when you are forced to realize that you actually do need Him. It is a deadly mistake that leads to eternal death. It is better to face the truth and accept it.
Misplaced faith makes God angry. You may fear His anger and that is smart. However, to fear anything else reveals a lack of faith. You either trust God to take care of you or you do not. God commanded us to not fear anything, but Him. Fear reveals a heart condition that must be dealt with.
God's jealousy is not like human jealousy. Our jealousy comes from a place of evil. His jealousy is holy. It had a proper perspective unlike ours. We believe we own something and want to hold onto it mercilessly. God's jealousy is about wanting what is best for us. He sees it. He knows it. He is trying to communicate it and we ignore Him. That is why we suffer the consequences for generations.
To get your faith on track only begins at salvation. You have to train yourself to trust God in all situations. You have to forsake all other gods. That is not an option. You have to surrender your thoughts over to the Holy Spirit to correct or use.
Following God's Word is the road map to a peaceful and joyful life. It will direct you to a blissful eternal life. All you have to do is believe and give your attention to God to act in obedience. Nothing else in life will ever really satisfy you.
