When it comes to learning how to be a Christian, you start with the attitude. You have to align your attitude to be one of service instead of what you can get out of being a Christian. Trials will come and if you are so focused on what is going wrong, then you can't see what God is doing. There are always things to be grateful for.
Trials will tempt you to be selfish, provoke strong feelings, and can break your peace if you allow them. Trails to take you out of your comfort zone, but you can find joy there because life is never boring. If you give what causes stress over to God, then you can relax and enjoy life even if it doesn't look like you can.
Life is always holding some level of trauma. Are you going to focus on the trauma and let it control your life? Or are you going to learn from it and become a different person that perseveres and lets it go? No matter what you do there will always be bills, taxes, needing food, home issues, work problems, and more.
We all have responsibilities, but if you look at it as a steward instead of it all being your responsibility, then you can handle it better. A steward is responsible for taking care of the owners possessions. God is the one that owns everything. He has just gifted you with your body, mind, soul, home, car, and everything else you are blessed with in life. You just focus on how to best take care of what He has given you and He will take care of everything else.
Life will never be easy. Do not be fooled into thinking that life will get easier once you are a Christian. The opposite is the truth. People will go out their way to make things harder because you are choosing to follow Jesus. It is your attitude that will help you get through or destroy you. If you rejoice in what God is doing instead of complaining, then you will have a lighter heart.
It is your attitude toward God that allows you to face trails with joy instead of dread, fear, or terror. If your attitude aligns with your faith that God is the leader and you are the follower, then all the issues in life become just a little easier to handle. If you are struggling, then turn to God to lead you in how to change your attitude to see things more clearly from His perspective. Then take personal responsibility over your own attitude, so you can change.
Choosing to be a steward and bonded servant to God will help you align your assets and liabilities in life to a healthy mental perspective. You can stop and see the beauty and wonder in life. What you value in life will be more focused on life than possessions that just become more of a burden.
If you desire comfort in life, then trials will always be a burden. You will hate them and then you will never find the joy. It is hard, but you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. This is the starting point of building a Christ like character. This is the beginning of finding a positive outlook in life. You were created to enjoy life, but also bring God the glory. You have to have the right attitude to be able to do that. Any other attitude brings discord.
