Marriage Commands

Marriage can be simple, but never easy.  You have to fight your own selfish desires everyday to put your spouse and family first.  God's commands for marriage is simple.  First it is a man and woman.  Second your marriage is meant to picture your relationship with Christ.  That covers all the commandments on marriage: adultery, love, forgiveness, and more.
If you are a Christian, then Jesus is teaching your heart and mind how to love like he loves.  Marriage is a responsibility based on commandments from God.  If you do it God's way, then you will have a healthy society and stability for your children.
The construct of marriage is wives submitting to your husbands.  That is not hard if the husband is doing his part by protecting and taking care of the wives.  It is personal just like your relationship with Christ is personal.  It requires trusting in God so that you can live out grace.
Marriage is about sacrificial love.  It is choosing your spouse everyday.  If you don't, then you start seeing the dysfunction.  When you are rebelling against God, you will ultimately rebel in your marriage.  You will disrespect your spouse.  You will lower the value of God's authority over you and your marriage.
Here is the catch: You don't get to choose which commands you want to follow.  You are expected to follow every command that God presents in your marriage.  You don't get to pick and choose what want to believe.  You believe it all or nothing will make your marriage work in a way that honors God.
God can handle anything and everything that is going on in your marriage.  You are the one that may not be able to handle it.  That is why you need to trust God.  God loves you and your spouse.  You don't have to earn His love, so you need to choose to love your spouse in the same way.  Love is not a contract or conditional.  It is a covenant, choice, and forever.
You cannot be expected to know how to do a healthy Godly marriage without being taught.  Your parents and the church community are responsible for teaching you.  This is how generational marriage can work.  If you don't have anyone to teach you, then pray and read your Bible.  God will reveal the truth about marriage to you.
True love is giving up your selfishness for the greater good of someone else.  It is not a feeling or emotion.  It is a stable choice.  It covers all kinds of wrongs that are done to you, so your heart can stay holy without blemish.  It takes care of your heart and keeps your heart cherishing what you have.  Love is an action of respect and sacrifice,  Real love is unconditional and unchanging just like your salvation.
