Yahweh Nissi

 

    Yahweh Nissi (Yah-weh nis-see) is יהוה ניסי in Hebrew.  Yahweh Nissi can also be called Jehovah Nissi.  Yahweh is יהוה which means Lord.  Nissi is ניסי which means my banner/flag.  Together it names God "the Lord is my banner" or "the Lord is my victory".  The name Yahweh Nissi signifies how God's protection covers His people.  It is a rally cry of faith because you know that God will provide victory in your life.

    The way Paul is the spokes person for the church after Jesus' resurrection.  Moses is the one that gave God all His names or at least recorded names to call God.  Moses used Yahweh Nissi after God led the defeat of the Amalekites and Moses built an altar to God to honor the victory.  He thanks God for being there in the hard times.  

    Praying to Yahweh Nissi is a declaration of security in your faith, hope in your life, and victory over what is a wall or defeating you at this time.  You use the name Yahweh Nissi to declare grace over yourself, your feelings, your attitude, and other people.  Yahweh Nissi reveals God's nature as a protector and victor over all evil.  Pray to Yahweh Nissi for strength in your personal battles.  He will provide.  He gives the hard times purpose.  Praying to Yahweh Nissi provides perspective.
