God Can Use Stains

Joshua sent two spies into the city of Jericho to get the layout and feel for the city.  He didn't want too many people because it would draw attention and lead to possible discord among the others.
Once in the city the men stayed in the home of Rehab, a prostitute.  No one would think twice about two men spending the night there.  No one would ask questions and they could move about more or less invisible.  She lived on the edge of town making her more vulnerable, but also out of the way of proper society.
There were rumors that there were spies in the city.  The king sent his soldiers out into the city to find them.  When they made it to Rehab's house she hid them and lied to the soldiers to save their lives.  When the soldiers left, she used her wit to ask the two spies to save her and her family when they came.  She asked for mercy.
They promised her that they would not harm them and she told them a secret way out of the city along with an escape route.  Once they were out of the city they went to Joshua to tell him all that had happened.  They were excited because they knew that the city was ready for the taking.
Rehab was a woman that other women would avoid.  Men would use her and then treat her like she was nothing.  She had a bad reputation and so people felt that it was okay to ignore, be cruel, or taunt her.  She did what she had to do to survive.  It does not mean that she enjoyed it or even wanted that life.
God saw into her heart.  He saw her potential and He decided to show her mercy.  God gave her a chance to change her life.
