Other gods

When you think about gods, what do you think about?  I always thought about the days of the Roman empire and all the mythical gods of the Roman and Greek  era.  They were all so dramatic with their fantastical stories.  It wasn't until I was an adult that I really understood that gods were the strongholds of our lives.  The everyday little things that we can't just give up and lead us astray.  That is why they are so dangerous.

We know what our personal gods are: money, worry, ourselves, other people, drugs, sex, looking a part, idols, and so many more.  We have to define the god or gods for ourselves and go to the real God to deal with it.

We can't rely on other people to help us in this area because they have their own god or gods.  They may make it feel okay to make themselves feel okay.  Or they could make things harder on you because of their own struggles.  God is the only one that can really help.  A support system is nice, but people let people down.  People that intentionally lead you astray need  to be cut out of your life completely or things will never be better.

God will test you, so that you can identify your gods.  His test tell you where your heart and soul lye.  He wants you to see where your desires really are.  You can say all day that your heart and soul belong to Him, but what does your actions and attitude tell everyone else?

If you find that you rebel in an area against God, then there is your answer on where you have a god.  Rebellion leads to death if you don't decide to change.  It is always your choice.  God wants you to chose to purge evil from your heart and presence.  Life is less dramatic when you do.  Your heart will have more peace when you do.
