Sin Defeats

People are selfish by nature.  We were born that way.  The moment we are born we start crying to declare to all that we are not happy with our introduction into the world.  It may improve as we get older, but that is not a guarantee.
When you put people together you form a selfish community, government, and nation.  We all have our own agendas.  The question we have to ask ourselves is:  Are you keeping our agenda in check with God's agenda for you?  Independence from God will take you to unfathomably bad places.
The heart will lie to you.  It will have you mourn over idolatrous things or punishment for sin.  We don't naturally mourn over the shame of sin.  That is how sin can defeat you.  It is sneaky.  It invades the heart and makes itself seem normal and acceptable while it puts you in bondage.  When that happens, it's game over.  You have lost that battle, but it doesn't mean you have to lose the war.
It takes time and effort to be righteous.  It means investing into God: prayer, Bible, fellowship.  You have to give yourself time to seek God and wait for His response.  It is the only way to find His faithful love.  It turns you righteous from the inside out.  If you depend on yourself, then you will fail.

Hosea 10
