Church Warning

-
The church has responsibility.  We are all responsible for warning the world and making sure it is clear that they will go to hell if they do not submit to God in faith in Jesus.  There is a difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus.  The world needs to know what is at stake.  If you do not do your job, then on the day of judgment they have the right to turn to you and say why did you not tell me?
You have to understand the truth before you go out into the world to proclaim the good news.  You have to understand your faith to live it and teach it.  Your journey of learning and getting to know God never ends, but you have to understand the basics on faith: believe in your heart and declare with your mouth that you are a sinner that needs Jesus who did die on the cross, rose himself from the dead, and ascended to heaven still alive.
Once you really understand what is at stake, then you can start putting in the world, while never neglecting your own relationship with the Holy Spirit.  It is that fine tune relationship that gives you protection.  When you become a Christian you inherit sanctification (purity to enter heaven).  However, it doesn't make you immune to temptation.  You will sin again, so you have to repent every time the Holy Spirit convicts you.
Maintaining your relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit needs prayer.  Prayer in more than asking for stuff.  It is thinking about other people and praying for them, good for your enemy, God's will, truth, and more.  You have to spend time in God's Word to build up your spiritual armor and mature as a Christian.
Being a Christian saves you from being exiled to hell.  It does not protect you from temptation or folly.  It breaks the powerful chains of sin, but you still have to take active steps to walk away.  You have to embrace the peace that God gives you in all circumstances and never turn back to your sin.  If you do, then your title of Christian looses all it's power.  You will still enter heaven, but you will lead others to hell.
